A spin-off of the series, Skylanders games are played by placing character figures called the Skylanders on the 'Portal of Power,' a device that reads the figures' tags through and 'imports' the character represented by the figure into the game as a playable character. Contents.Plot The game takes place in a world called 'Skylands', a realm filled with adventure. It is the very center of the universe where it is constantly threatened by evil forces who seek to rule Skylands and gain access to all worlds. Luckily, a band of heroes called the Skylanders use their abilities and machinery to defend their world from various threats, which they have done for generations.
They have worked with the Portal Masters in keeping peace and balance in Skylands, battling the forces of evil, and protecting the Core of Light. Unfortunately, Kaos (the main antagonist of the franchise) has destroyed the Core of Light (in the first game Spyro's adventure) and now Skylands is in his hands. It is up to the player to send the Skylanders into the game and stop Kaos. The Skylanders have an unbreakable bond with their Portal Masters. Though they are not servants, the Skylanders chose to serve their Portal Master and do so eagerly. Each Skylander is associated with one of the ten elements of Skylands: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Magic, Tech, Life, Undead, Light, and Dark( both recently added).The main plot is the Skylanders going through levels to defeat Kaos, the series' main antagonist, and stop him from ruling over Skylands.The console versions of each game follow identical storylines, while the versions follow stories different from those of the console versions.Games Release timeline 2016Spyro's Adventure (2011). It introduces a new team of Skylanders called the 'Giants,' massive creatures who were the first Skylanders assembled to stop the reign of Arkeyans. Battlecast cards are classified as Common, Rare, Epic, and Ultimate. This designation not only indicates how difficult a particular card is to find, but also how powerful it is in the game when scanned into the Battlecast app.Common cards can be identified by the grey symbol on the bottom middle of the cards and when scanned into the Battlecast app will be added to the player’s Collection at level 1.Rare cards can be identified by the blue symbol on the bottom middle of the cards.Epic cards can be identified by the purple symbol on the bottom middle of the cards.Ultimate cards can be identified by the gold symbol on the bottom middle of the cards. Character cardsCharacter cards represent the warriors you’ll take with you into combat. They bear the likenesses of classic Skylanders characters such as Spyro, Snap Shot, and Storm Blade. A game of Battlecast will require the player to select three Skylanders character cards to take into battle.Elemental cardsThese are various attacks and effects that can be cast by any character. Each is linked to one of the ten Skylanders elementsCharacter-specific cardsThese are special powers that can only be used in combat by a specific Skylander.Non-Elemental cardsThese are attacks and effects that can be used by any character.
While usually not as powerful as elemental spells, they have the benefit of not being element-specific and can slip through defenses designed to block elemental powers.Gear cardsGear cards are devices that are attached to a specific character and apply specific affects only to that character. A character can only wear one piece of Gear at a time. Active Gear will be destroyed when a new piece of Gear is applied to the character.Relic cardsRelics are powerful objects that are played on the battlefield that place some sort of global effect on the battle. Each team of three Skylanders can only place down have one active Relic at a time.
Relics also have their own Life counters and can be targeted just like enemy Skylanders.
