Auto Assault was an interesting experiment of a game, but ultimately failed (and did so quickly) because it did not address the key interests of most MMO players. The game tries to be a hybrid between a true MMO with quests and character development, on the one hand, and a driving game, on the other, and fails as a direct result of that. Not many remember (or know) Auto Assault, a car-based MMORPG which kinda worked like a Vigilante 8/Twisted Metal in an Open World Mad Maxish setting.
Well, few years ago I noticed that a single guy was working on the emulator in his spare time. Few days ago I searched for it again and found out that he is still working on it, but due to the fact that he is alone, the project is going really slow (he is working on Tabula Rasa too).
